Tourist Police:-A unit of Tourist Police has been raised in coordination with Tourism Department of Andaman & Nicobar Administration. Its personnel are deployed in areas of tourist attraction and interests to assist and guide the domestic and foreign tourists   visiting islands.  Any person  could   approach tourist   Police in the event  of any harassment or misbehavior by public including Taxi operators, Guides, Hoteliers, etc.  

Guidelines for foreigner visiting the Islands

Tourist Police of A & N Islands is to facilitate your visit to these exotic islands as pleasant, safe and memorable experience. You can help us further by following tips while touring Islands.

  1. Keep your valuable and important documents including passport secure in hotel in safe deposit box or carry inside jacket box.

  2. Never carry large sum of your cash on your purse.

  3. Carry your valuable credit cards and cash inside jacket pocket.

  4. Make sure that luggage is only given to hotel staff when boarding you reach hotel.

  5. Never leave luggage or other expansive items un-attendant at Airport, Sea Port, Stands etc.

Some Do's for tourists

  1. Foreign nationals should obtain the required permit from the Immigration authorities soon after landing on the islands.

  2. Visit permitted areas in the islands only.

  3. Make use of the service of authorized tourist guides.

  4. While driving follow the traffic rules, keep left, Carry legal documents like driving license, permit, passport etc.

  5. Consult life guards before entering the sea.

  6. Swim in safe areas only.

  7. Keep the beaches and the environment clean.

  8. Observe decency and decorum in dress.

  9. Avail the service of Scuba Dive Instructors having certificate of international professional organizations like PADI, CMAS, NAUI, BSAC or SSI for safe diving experience.  

    Some Don'ts for tourists

  1. Foreigners nationals should not enter the islands without required permit.

  2. Do not enter into restricted / tribal areas.

  3. Do not take video, film or photographs inside Tribal Reserve areas or of the indigenous tribes.

  4. Do not carry sea fans and seashells unless specific permits are obtained from the Fisheries Department.

  5. Do not light fire in forest areas.

  6. Do not stay on the beaches or forest areas during nights, by putting up own tents / hammocks.

  7. Nudity on beaches and public places is forbidden .

  8. Do not enter the National Parks without permission.

  9. Do not swim after consuming liquor.

  10. Person who commits breach of any of the conditions of the Wildlife protection shall be punishable as per law.
