- The Immigration work at Port Blair is being carried out by the A&N Police.
- The Unit mainly deals with the Immigration of foreign tourists, who are visiting A&N Islands for tourism purpose.
- Immigration staff at Airport / Seaport is clearing each foreign tourist on arrival & departure.
- A foreigner is permitted to stay in A & N Islands only for a period of 30 days.
- Surveillance of the foreign tourists is also kept by immigration department.
- Unit also deals with the immigration clearance of foreign tourists Vessels and Yacht
- Small vessels and yachts arriving the Andaman and Nicobar Islands either with or without prior intimation are permitted to anchor in the inner harbour near Chatham.
- Port Management Board report arrival of such vessels to Customs and Immigration Officer.
- Customs Clearance and Immigration checks are done respectively . Forms, namely "Particulars of foreigners visiting Port Blair" and "Disembarkation Card" are required to be filled up by the tourists.
- Checking of the original documents like Passport, Visa and ship particulars etc. is done subsequently if all documents are found correct. 'Restricted Area Permit' for the period for the period of 30 days is issued to such tourists2. The conditions / restrictions are mentioned in all permit itself. Tourists are advised to obey the condition of permit.
- At the time of departure of the vessel, Embarkation Card, is issued after ascertaining that there is no un-authorised person on board the yacht.
