FIRE SERVICE

 

-    A Small unit existed under Military Police during Pre-Independence day and the unit was re-organized in 1952.

     -  The Fire Service in Andaman and Nicobar Islands today, under Police is, functioning as a separate unit technically  headed by the  Chief Fire Officer under the control and supervision of Dy. Inspector General Police, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and the head of  the department is Director General of Police,  A&N Islands.

     -   The Andaman & Nicobar Fire Service has presently 20 Fire Stations,  Fire Service provides fire coverage to all important and  inhabited Islands of this territory. However we have provided Fire Station in South Andaman and at far flung Islands of this territory.

 -   Fire Service Training Centre imparted Fire Prevention Training to 1679 Government Servants, Students and Civilians during the year 2008.

=    17 Civilians & 63 Government servant throughout the Islands. 

=    Refresher Course to 02 Leading Fireman (HC), 33 Fireman (PC) and basic training to 13 new recruits.

 

 -   It attended 42 Fire Calls, 9 Special Service Calls during the year 2010 upto 28th February

 -   Comparative Chart of number of fire calls attended by Andaman & Nicobar Fire Service over last five years is below: 

 -   Property lost during the current year 2010 upto 28th February of Rs. 13,36,100/-  (approximately).

 -   Property saved during the current year 2010 upto 28th February of Rs. 3,00,77,100/- (approximately).
